Orra Link 2 is a sender. It sits on a track, passes the audio through untouched, and broadcasts a copy (with the track's name and color) onto a shared bus that every compatible Orra plugin in the session can read. No DAW routing, no bus sends, no fighting hosts whose sidechain support stops at one input.

What it is

A sender, and nothing in the way

Orra Link 2 passes your track through bit-untouched and broadcasts a copy of it, tagged with the track's name and color, onto a small shared region of memory that lives outside any single DAW's routing graph. Every Orra receiver in the session can read it. No sends, no aux buses, no wrestling with a host that only offers one sidechain input.

It passes through

The track’s own audio always leaves the plugin exactly as it came in. Orra Link 2 only reads and broadcasts; it never colors or delays the signal you can hear.

It broadcasts a copy

A copy of the audio goes onto the shared bus with the track’s name and color attached, so receivers can list it as itself instead of as a channel number.

Receivers just read it

Orra EQ, Press, Space, and Ducker open the same bus and pick the track from a by-name menu. Because the bus sits outside the host, it works across plugin formats.

Auto mode

Name-first. Drop and forget.

Where the original Orra Link asked you to co-ordinate numbered channels, Link 2 defaults to Auto. Drop it on a track and the track simply appears, by name, in every receiver's sidechain menu. No number to remember, no routing to document.

A large pool of slots

Auto silently claims a free slot from a pool that holds well over a hundred per session, and publishes the track’s name and color with the audio. You never see the slot number, because you never need it.

Crash-safe reclaim

If a slot is orphaned by a force-quit host, Link 2 reclaims it automatically instead of leaking it until reboot. The pool stays clean across a long session.

Remembered by name

Receivers remember their picks by name, so they reconnect after session reloads even though Auto slots don’t keep stable numbers. Reopen the project and the wiring is still there.

Type your own name

The track name is filled from the host automatically where supported (VST3 / AAX). Double-click the name plate to type your own; the override is saved with the session.

Backwards compatible

Nothing about your old sessions breaks

The numbered Link 1 to 36 channels are still here for the classic workflow, and they are mirrored onto the original Orra Link bus as well. A receiver that has not been updated (an older Orra Press, for instance) keeps seeing those manual channels exactly as before, right alongside Link 2.

Pick a numbered channel only when an older Orra receiver needs to see it, or when you want a fixed, documented routing in a template. New-generation receivers prefer the Link 2 copy of a channel and fall back to the old bus automatically, so old and new plugins coexist on the same machine without stepping on each other.

Telemetry

Meters and analysis, when something is listening

Every broadcasting sender publishes lightweight meters continuously: level, loudness, stereo correlation, and clip events, a few numbers per block. On top of that, a pull-based 48-band spectrum powers receiver overlays like Orra EQ's masking view. That extra analysis only runs while something is actually attached and asking for it, so an idle session pays zero extra CPU.

Live meters

RMS, sample peak, true peak, momentary and short-term loudness, stereo correlation, and clip events, published continuously and effectively free.

Pull-based spectrum

A 48-band spectrum for masking analysis is published on demand. Senders only run it while a receiver feature or dashboard is attached and requesting it.

Idle costs nothing

When nothing is listening, the extra work stops. A session full of senders that no one is analyzing pays no extra CPU for the telemetry tier.

Latency

Zero latency, always

Orra Link 2 reports no latency and never delays the track it sits on. The bus transit costs up to one audio block, and receivers that need sample accuracy account for it on their side and report it to the host, so everything lines up after delay compensation. The track you can hear is never held back.

How to get it

Already in the installer

Link 2 is bundled in the installer of each compatible product (Orra EQ, Orra Press, Orra Space, Orra Ducker). No separate download. Install or update any compatible Orra plugin and Link 2 installs with it.
